Information About Us

and our background.

National Cattle Feeders (NCF) is a commodity finance company specialising in the financing of cattle in feedlots. NCF will not ask its clients for a balance sheet or a valuation of its fixed assets.

Many banks think they provide commodity finance but in reality are providing either balance sheet lending or loans against fixed asset security such as land and buildings. This is fine except not every-one in the industry has a huge balance sheet or a never ending stream of available fixed asset security.  Real “Commodity Financing” relies solely on the floating asset (cattle in this case), the commodity/payment cycle and the experience of the parties involved.  This is not to say that commodity financing is a risky form of lending necessitating high interest rates, quite to the contrary.  A well structured commodity financing with experienced clients has many advantages from a risk perspective over conventional bank lending. Whilst NCF does not look at the value of a client’s balance sheet and fixed assets it does however ask about the cattle, the mortality insurance, the performance projections in the feedlot and the end purchaser (offtaker).

We commenced activities in September 2004 after a considerable period of time researching the industry, assessing risk areas, structuring funding facilities with financiers and equity participants, developing operational procedures and producing related documentation with legal advisers. NCF was formed because it is believed there is a place within the industry for this type of financing and at the same time the industry is ideally suited to a commodity finance structure.

NCF, as a participant in the finance industry, aims to establish itself as a recognised name dealing with well respected companies and individuals in the feedlot industry. We do not aim to replace your existing banking arrangements but see ourselves as an enhancement and extension to that relationship.
